Meningococcal disease is a serious, life-threatening bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and sepsis. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself or your loved ones before heading to university, starting a new academic year, or living in shared accommodation.

The vaccination consists of two doses given at least 28 days apart. At our pharmacy, we offer this service through both the Free NHS Scheme and as a Private Clinic.
Free NHS MenB Vaccination Service
This service runs from 20 July 2026 until 31 March 2027. You can receive this vaccine free of charge on the NHS if you fall into one of the following groups:
- Aged 17 or 18: Individuals born on or after 1 September 2007 and on or before 31 August 2008.
- Students up to Age 25: Individuals born on or after 1 January 2002 who are starting undergraduate higher education in autumn 2026.
- Students Turning 25 this Year: Individuals born between 21 July 2001 and 31 December 2001 who are starting undergraduate higher education in autumn 2026.
- Further Education Residents: Individuals up to age 25 who will be living in further education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in autumn 2026.
NHS Eligibility Notes: You are not eligible under the NHS scheme if you have already completed a full course of the MenB vaccine within the last 5 years. You do not need an NHS number or GP registration to get vaccinated. If you are aged 19–25, you must bring proof of your university/accommodation offer (e.g., UCAS or college letter).
How to Book the NHS Service
- Online Booking: The official NHS National Booking Service opens early on Monday 13 July 2026 for 17- and 18-year-olds. Go to the NHS National Booking Service or use the NHS App. When prompted to ‘Find a site near where you’d like the appointment’, enter our pharmacy postcode AL54SE to select us. Face-to-face appointments begin 20 July 2026.
- Walk-In Clinics: We also welcome walk-ins starting from 20 July 2026 during our normal opening hours, including late afternoons and Saturdays.
Private MenB Vaccination Service
If you or your child do not qualify for the free NHS service but still want total peace of mind, we can protect you through our private clinic. This option is ideal for younger children, older adults, or students who fall outside the strict NHS age brackets.
- No eligibility restrictions: Available to anyone wishing to protect themselves against Meningococcal B.

Key Timelines for Your Protection
To ensure full protection before the academic term starts, we recommend scheduling your doses as early as possible:
- First Dose: We highly recommend getting this sorted early. For the NHS track, it must be administered before 31 December 2026.
- Second Dose: Administered at least 28 days after your first dose.
What Happens at Your Consultation?
Your vaccination will take place in our private consultation room with a fully trained pharmacist or pharmacy technician. We will verify your details, administer the vaccine safely, and provide you with helpful information on the signs and symptoms of meningitis and sepsis to keep you safe. We will also update your GP record automatically so your medical history stays completely up to date.
