About the Service
Our clinical service provides targeted treatment (Azithromycin 500mg daily for 3 days) for individuals visiting high-risk areas—such as parts of Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and the Middle East—or for travellers with pre-existing medical conditions (like IBD, renal impairment, or diabetes) that put them at risk of severe illness.
Service Eligibility:
· Age Requirements: Adult patients aged 18 and older.
· High-Risk Travel Destinations: Remote locations with limited medical care access across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Mexico, and Central/South America.
· Pre-Existing Health Conditions: Individuals whose existing health conditions (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease) could relapse or severely worsen due to severe infection or dehydration.
Important Safety Note:
Antibiotics are prescribed for severe cases (e.g., incapacitating symptoms, blood/mucus in stool, or high fever). Oral rehydration is essential for all cases of traveller’s diarrhoea.
